John F. McSorley, Jr., MBA, QPFC, AIF Managing Partner, Qualified Plan Development
John is the managing partner and a co-founder of Guidance Wealth, LLC, Guidance Investment Advisors, LLC, and is a partner and co-founder of Guidance Tax & Accounting, LLC. He has worked in the financial services/risk management industry since 2001.
John heads Guidance Wealth’s Qualified Plan Development, working both as an advisory representative and as a fiduciary consultant to ERISA plans. John has been the primary architect and developer of the Guidance Asset Allocation Model Service which offers participants an added level of assistance with selecting or designing an appropriate retirement plan portfolio. He holds the specific pension industry designations of QPFC (Qualified Plan Financial Consultant) through the American Society of Pension Professionals and Actuaries (ASPPA) and AIF® (Accredited Investment Fiduciary®) through fi360 and Center for Fiduciary Studies.
John and his family are long-time residents of the Michiana area. He graduated from Clay High School in South Bend and received his undergraduate degree from University of the State of New York in Albany, later earning his Master’s Degree in Business Administration from Indiana Wesleyan University. John is a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps. He and his wife Amy have four boys. The older two are presently serving in the U.S. Air Force and U.S. Navy, and the younger two are presently still in school. John and his family attend St. Pius X Church in Granger. Both John and Amy are broadly involved in services to our greater community organizations, including varsity and club athletics, fine arts, and financial education assistance programs.
Maureen A. Teunissen Director of Operations, Chief Compliance Officer, Client Account Representative
Maureen comes to us from Everence Financial where she served in various capacities, including Director of Trust Operations, Director of Trust and Estate Administration, and Financial Services Account Representative. Maureen is also an attorney licensed in both Indiana and Michigan, with experience in the execution of wills, beneficiary transfers, trusts, estate planning, charitable gifting, critical aspects of prudently managing client wealth, and managing the ongoing operations for a private financial services firm. She is a wonderful fit for Guidance and our clients.
Maureen earned her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science at Hope College in Holland, Michigan, later earning her Juris Doctor from Thomas M. Cooley Law School in Lansing, Michigan. Maureen resides in Goshen with her husband Dave, where they have been closely involved with their son’s high school and travel athletic programs.
Michael A. Griggs, LUTCF Partner, Financial Advisor
Mike began his financial services career in 1988, working to make the complex issues of the insurance and investment world more understandable for his clients. He joined Guidance Wealth in 2011, specializing in financial planning for individuals and families including strategic insurance planning, investment advice, and savings and account draw-down planning. Mike is also licensed to provide Long-Term Care coverage, with the primary goal of helping clients protect their assets.
Mike is a Partner of Guidance Wealth, LLC and a member of the GW Investment Policy Committee. Mike holds the industry designation of Life Underwriter Training Council Fellow (LUTCF) from The American College and the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors (NAIFA).
Mike is a lifelong Michiana resident and has been married to his high school sweetheart, Kim, for over 35 years. He has served on numerous boards in our area and is very active in his church.
David L. Neeser Business Development Coordinator
Dave Neeser joined the Guidance team in early 2017. Dave has over 30 years of experience in commercial banking, lending, and finance consulting. He brings this experience and skill set to bear as the Business Development Coordinator with Guidance Wealth. Dave's career aspiration has always been to help people achieve their financial goals through sound advice and critical business input. Upon finishing his requisite exams, Dave will also function as an Investment Advisor Representative, continuing to assist individual investors, families and business owners as they work to advance their financial plans and goals.
Dave earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Finance from Western Michigan University. He resides in Osceola with his wife, Gretchen, two sons, and their adopted dog from All 4 Animals Rescue in Mishawaka. Dave also enjoys spending time with his three older children, two daughters and a son, as their busy schedules allow.
He is currently a Board Member with Habitat for Humanity of Elkhart County and works on the Elkhart Chamber of Commerce Business Recognition Committee. Dave enjoys coaching local youth soccer and junior ski racers, as well as, boating, fishing, and bicycling with his family.
Bryan D. Focht, EA Publications and Operations Specialist, Tax Preparer
As a member of the Guidance team since June of 2007, Bryan is responsible for quality control, material content and production of client reporting, technology maintenance, and marketing for Guidance Wealth. He is instrumental in providing advisors and staff with what they need to support clients. He also provides specialized operations support for the Qualified Plan clients. Bryan is an Enrolled Agent, preparing taxes for clients through Guidance Tax Service.
Bryan received his Bachelor of Arts from Bethel College and has an Associate’s degree in Accounting and Business Administration.
Bryan and his wife, Lesley, have three children and are active in the St. Mark Missionary Church. His passion for teaching is evident while helping students with SAT and ACT preparation.
